- Nobody can remove anyone else from a record, and what you add stays with it.
- You can always get a copy of the photos and documents you’ve added.
About these terms
Almost Home (almosthome.au) is operated by Samuel Wendt, a sole trader in Queensland, Australia (“we” or “us”). By creating an account or using Almost Home, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Not migration advice
Almost Home is a tool for organising your own documents. We don’t give immigration assistance or legal advice. We don’t tell you what evidence to include, assess how strong it is, or prepare or lodge applications. The four categories and ImmiAccount file rules we describe come from public information and may change.
Using Almost Home doesn’t affect or guarantee the outcome of any visa application. You’re responsible for what you submit. For advice about your situation, speak to a registered migration agent or an Australian legal practitioner. Almost Home isn’t affiliated with the Department of Home Affairs.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over.
- Give accurate details, and keep your password to yourself.
- Each account is for one person.
- Tell us straight away at hello@almosthome.au if you think someone else has accessed your account.
Shared records
You can invite your partner to share your record. A record has at most two members, and both can see everything on it and add to it.
Nobody can remove another member from a record. In a partner visa, one partner’s status can depend on the other, so we don’t let either of you lock the other out of shared evidence. Either member can choose to leave. When you leave, what you added stays with the record, because it’s part of your partner’s evidence too.
Your content
You own the photos, documents and notes you add. You give us permission to store, copy and process them (for example, converting photos, making thumbnails and building PDFs) only so we can provide Almost Home to you and the other member of your record. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from copies kept for a limited time in backups.
Only add content you have the right to use. If it includes other people, such as friends in photos, make sure they’re comfortable with it.
Acceptable use
Please don’t use Almost Home to:
- break the law, or store anything illegal;
- create false or misleading evidence;
- harass, monitor or control another person;
- try to access a record or account that isn’t yours;
- interfere with the service, upload malware, get around its limits, or copy it by scraping or reverse engineering.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it’s safe and lawful to do so, we’ll tell you why first.
Early access and pricing
Almost Home is free during early access. Features and limits may change as we build it. If we introduce paid plans, we’ll tell you before anything changes, and you won’t be charged unless you choose to subscribe.
Whatever happens with pricing, you’ll always be able to get a copy of the photos and documents you’ve added, either by exporting them or by asking us.
The service
We work hard to keep Almost Home running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of important originals.
If we ever close Almost Home, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and a way to download your content.
Consumer law and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which can’t be excluded.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made by the Department of Home Affairs or anyone else about your application. Where our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it’s limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Ending your use
You can stop using Almost Home at any time and delete your account from your account page. What happens to your record when you do is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes and law
We may update these terms as Almost Home grows. We’ll update the date above, and we’ll email you before any change that significantly affects you. If you keep using Almost Home after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
